6 Tips for Updating Your Kitchen for Under $100

Updating just the kitchen and bathroom can significantly enhance the overall atmosphere of your home. Particularly, if the kitchen, where homemakers spend most of their time, is updated, the house feels much more lively.

Here are six budget-friendly tips to change the mood of your kitchen for under $100:

1. Washable Rug

There are washable rugs specifically designed for the kitchen. These are not the typical vinyl mats we commonly know. They cost around $30 but can make your kitchen look much more sophisticated.

2. Replace Cabinet Handles

Even if your kitchen cabinets are old, simply changing the handles to something that matches can make them look much more stylish. You can find a surprising variety of handles on Amazon or at stores that sell kitchen hardware. eBay also offers unique handles. You might think the change would be insignificant, but once you replace them, you’ll be delighted.

3. Painting Cabinets

If you’re not satisfied with your kitchen cabinets, instead of spending a lot of money to replace them, consider painting them. Since cabinets occupy the largest area in the kitchen, changing their color can completely transform the kitchen's atmosphere. When painting, it’s a bit cumbersome, but it’s recommended to remove the doors, sand them, and then paint. If you know someone with a paint sprayer, borrowing it would be a good idea as it provides a smoother finish than a brush. After sanding, be sure to apply a primer and at least three coats of paint.

4. Change Pendant Light or Lighting Fixtures

Replacing the lighting fixtures in your kitchen can also effectively refresh the space. Instead of changing all the lights, focus on replacing the light that catches the eye the most when you enter the kitchen.

5. Replace Faucet

You can find stylish and affordable faucets online even if they are not from high-end brands. Simply changing the faucet to a trendy design can completely change the vibe of your kitchen.

6. Backsplash Paper

This isn’t tile but rather a sheet printed with a tile pattern. It’s easy to install and significantly improves the kitchen's look. Some products have a 3D tile effect, making it hard to tell that it’s just a sheet. If your current wall is dark, use bright, white sheets. Conversely, if it’s bright, using vibrant colored sheets will help create a more dramatic change.

I hope to bring you more helpful tips next time.
